Every month the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases its Household Survey Data and the media love focusing only on the total unemployment rate and whether its gone up or down. A few news outlets will take a moment to mention the percentage of underemployed Americans. Beyond that, the info is tossed aside.
Here's some BLS unemployment related figures you might have missed..
"The unemployment rates for adult men (9.4 percent) and whites (8.5 percent) declined in December. The un-employment rates for adult women (8.1 percent), teenagers (25.4 percent), blacks (15.8 percent), and Hispanics (13.0 percent) showed little change. The jobless rate for Asians was 7.2 percent."
~ One out of every Nine Hispanic Americans are out of work... One out of every Eight Black Americans can't find a job, and One out of Four teenagers can't even find work in minimum-wage jobs.
"The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was little changed at 6.4 million and accounted for 44.3 percent of the unemployed."
~ Almost 6.5 Million Americans have been out of work more than six months.
"The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons (sometimes referred to as involuntary part time workers) was essentially unchanged in December at 8.9 million. These individuals were working part time because their hours had been cut back or because they were unable to find a full-time job."
~ Almost Nine Million people are working less than they wish...
"There were 1.3 million discouraged workers in December, an increase of 389,000 from December 2009. Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them."
~ In the span of one calendar year, about 400,000 Americans felt so discouraged and hopeless about the economy and Reality of no job prospects, they stopped looking. This is in spite of the constant deafening Drumbeat of Recovery, Recovery, Recovery! by EVERY Mainstream Media source and other unswallowable Lies.
Statistics are easily manipulated. Maybe some Labor stats went up a teensy bit.. maybe some stayed consistent with November- No matter, the current economic situation is bad, and this fiscally conservative, pro-business President Obama, a Bush-appointed & Obama re-nominated Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and the Republican Congress-- none really give a damn about you and your daily struggles. None.
