Obama pretends he is JFK

President Obama spoke to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce today, attempting to urge the business community to help accelerate the slow economic recovery by increasing hiring and unleashing some of the $2 trillion piling up on their balance sheets.

We of course know this won't happen because not only are businesses Cheap when it comes to hiring new employees, they are scared to death of another market crash down the road (as everyone should be).  They do not want to be caught with their proverbial 'pants down' as they did before when credit and lending froze to a complete standstill and many businesses weren't sure they would be able to make payroll the first couple weeks after the Sept 2008 crash.

Obama tried to echo President Kennedy in his speech, prodding business leaders to "ask yourselves what you can do for America,".

Last month the President wanted to be Reagan.  Now its JFK...

If Obama seeks to appear to the American people as a 21st century Kennedy, then here are some not-so-famous JFK quotes perhaps the President could take to heart in his policy-making decisions (quotations in blue):

"There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction."

"The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining"

~  None of the causes of the 2008 market crash have been fixed or even addressed.  No one of importance who caused the financial meltdown have been prosecuted much less even arrested.  The only policy alterations which have occurred is a guarantee of a quicker flow of money to 'too big to fails' and Wall St. when the market crashes next.

"Our problems are man-made, therefore they may be solved by man."

"We believe that if men have the talent to invent new machines that put men out of work, they have the talent to put those men back to work."

~ The global financial crisis was caused not by everyday people. It is Not the everyday person's fault (repeat that to yourself often until you sincerely believe that truth)  It was caused by banks, financials, investors, and politicians who intentionally looked away while collecting campaign contributions from these same entities.

As well, the high unemployment is not divine creation- its man made.  Its businesses wanting labor as cheap as humanly possible and making millions of educated, hardworking, industrious people across the globe suffer because they dare to seek more than breadcrumbs for their labors.

* Future President Clinton meeting JFK

"The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word 'crisis.' One brush stroke stands for danger; the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger - but recognize the opportunity."

"My father always told me that All businessmen were sons of bitches, but I never believed it till now."

~  The 2008 crisis was a rare opportunity to permanently alter the global banking system forever, making it less lecherous and corrupt.  The evil banks and financials were on their knees- hemorrhaging 'blood' like a severely wounded animal.  The head should have been cut off.  Instead George W Bush, then Barack Obama did everything Humanly possible to strengthen those entities using our tax dollars and that of our future generations to make it so.  A Golden opportunity was missed and the world will pay a steep price over time for it.

"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."

"For in the final analysis, our most basic common link, is that we all inhabit this small planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's futures, and we are all mortal"

~ There are millions of poor people in this nation.  They're not "illegals" or whatever political 'boogey' trigger term is popular.. They are not "lazy" or deserving of their plight.  They are Americans- born and bred. Man and woman; black and white; young and old.  They exist-- they're as real as is their situation if Obama wants to be truly Kennedy-like, he will stop ignoring their plight and enact policies that specifically make their lives better,  demonstrating that the poor matter as much as the well-to-do.

"A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people."

"The very word 'secrecy' is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings."

~  This means you do not censor Wikileaks..  It means you do not censor the internet in any way, shape or form.  If you support Egypt having 100% freedom Mr President, then we Americans deserve it too. And it means dear people, you do Not vote overwhelmingly in polls in favor of curbs on such freedoms

"The American by nature is optimistic"

~ People don't sincerely want "hope" which is a Very negative word.  Americans want to genuinely feel optimistic about their individual futures and believe they are in charge of their destinies.   Once the President starts enacting policies that makes this a reality again for millions of people who had that belief taken from them, you will then have sincere Optimism again.

Mr President, if you want to be a 21st century JFK, then wonderful!.. and God Bless... but it will take more than paraphrasing one Kennedy quote to the fiscally conservative Chamber of Commerce to accomplish it.
