The Real Truths To Take from 9-11

~ Never Forget..   To buy NYPD and NYFD t-shirts that is...

So tomorrow is 9-11, which makes perfect sense because today is the 10th and Saturday will be the 12th..

Ohh.. you mean That 9-11

Fourteen years ago I slept through it for real (I remember waking up that day around Noon) and probably ignore the festivities

Or whatever the proper word is.
I guess 'Jaded' is the correct word, at least to describe how I feel because instead of looking at it like I was repeatedly told to i.e. that 3000+ people died because "they" hate our freedom, I see it as 3000+ people had to die so the government could have the perfect excuse to push forth a brand new military and domestic policy upon a part of the world we wouldn't care a fig (or date or olive) about if not for their oil.

Now I'm no conspiracy theorist..  If others are, that is fine.. I don't necessarily look at life like that but I never put people down who believe as they do
But I did learn two very important things from 9-11 and how the event was treated by the government and specifically the media..

1)  If double the lives lost. let's say 6000 innocent people dead took place that day as a result of Terror in Sioux Falls, or Topeka or Boise, or Cheyenne, WY or 500 other modern moderate to large cities between the two coasts, few to none in the media would have given a shit

The nation would have moved on in a week and honestly no one will ever convince me otherwise.

People only cared because it was New York.
Well what about Oklahoma City Bombing, you ask.. They cared then didn't they?

OK.. off the top of your head, what was the date it occurred?

No Google searching..  When did it occur?

And the reason the media covered it was because it was the perfect 'safe' killer.. a white Caucasian.   Perfect to cover and exploit with no fear of being called racist or intolerant of others' faith.

Once the guy died  (What was his name?  Surely you know, right..) Everyone moved on..
And you can argue all you want about the dead Americans in the plane in Shanksville, Pa but that was/still is an after thought..

Quick quiz:  Is Shanksville geographically closer to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton or Erie?

You can Google that one since I know no one knows the answer..

Nope.. NYC is 'sacred' ground..  It is of course NOT.. But its the media capital and the financial capital where the rats and roaches congregate and No one self-promotes itself more undeservedly than New Yorkers.
The only place in the world that celebrates being first in crime, drugs and poverty just because that means NYC is "number 1!"

The immediate Friday after 9-11 occurred, many celebrities and singers got together for a charity concert over multiple TV stations to raise money for the victims..

Think that would have happened if the horror took place in Jackson, MS or Lincoln, NE?

A question to all the elderly readers:  Pearl Harbor occurred on 12/7/1941...   Was the government still milking the event for political purposes on 12/7/1955?   Just curious to know..
2)  The second thing I learned clear as crystal from 9-11 is that unlike what we are told and taught about 'equality' and we're all the same, black and white, Jew and Gentile, straight and gay, the truth is we're NOT

Every life has a dollar sign 'worth' to it and not everyone's death at the hands of the same attackers in the same twin towers brought in equal value to next of kin.

I was really surprised how many people did not know about the  9-11 Victim Compensation Fund, how it came about and how the money was doled..

So I will briefly explain here..
The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund was created by an Act of Congress, the Air Transportation Safety and System Stabilization Act shortly after 9/11 to compensate the victims of the attack (or their families)

This was done in exchange for their agreement not to sue the airline corporations involved.

The money used to pay the victims' next of kin came from Us, the US taxpayers as did the $10 Billion which was given to bail out the airline industry.  9-11 was used as the excuse but the airlines were in desperate need of a bailout for a year prior..

Anyways, Kenneth Feinberg was appointed by Attorney General John Ashcroft to be Special Master of the fund. He worked for 33 months pro bono.   That means for free...
Now he could have decided the $7 billion allocated to the fund be divided equally by the number of innocent lives lost that day..  But nope-- that's not how America rolls (A little pun on that famous one-liner from one of the heroes on that Shanksville plane ('Let's Roll!') that profit-hungry businesses used to put on their 9-11 merchandise.. )

Feinberg decided each person's value varied and he was responsible for making the decisions on how much each family of a victim would receive.  He had to estimate how much each victim would have earned in a full lifetime.

If a family accepted the offer, it was not possible to appeal.  Families unhappy with the offer were able to appeal in a non-adversarial, informal hearing to present their case however they wanted.
Feinberg personally presided over more than 900 of the 1,600 hearings. At the end of the process as I stated before, $7 billion was awarded to 97% of the families; the average payout being $1.8 million.

A non-negotiable clause in the acceptance papers for the settlements was that the families were to never file suit against the airlines for any lack of security or otherwise unsafe procedures.

As I stated before, US taxpayer money was used to buy off the victims' next of kin from suing private businesses, then each victim was assigned a monetary dollar value based on their profession and salary.
A stumbling block to settlements and the reason it took over three years to settle with everyone was the fact that many of the World Trade Center victims were highly compensated financial professionals.

Families of these victims, greedy spouses of greed-filled deceased who worked in finance felt the compensation offers were too low, and, had a court considered their case on an individual basis, they would have been awarded much higher amounts.

This concern had to be balanced against the time, complications, and risks of pursuing an individual case, and the real possibility that the airlines and their insurers could be bankrupted by paying out settlements one by one.

There were two additional funds set up..  the September 11th Fund and the World Trade Center Captive Insurance Company.
The September 11 Fund totaled $528 million collected from various grants which provided cash assistance, counseling and other services to the families of those killed in the 9/11 attacks, the injured and those displaced from their homes or jobs. The Fund also provided grants to affected small businesses and community organizations

That was the noble fund..

The WTC fund was created by New York City with funding from FEMA in July 2004 providing up to $1 billion to create an insurance company to cover the risks assumed by the city and its contractors working without commercial insurance coverage, in claims resulting from work done subsequent to the September 11 attacks

In other words, a fund to pay non-insured contractors in future terror attacks who agree to waive their right to sue the city directly.
So to re-state the real lessons of 9-11:

1)  It only matters to the degree it did upon the American people because it happened in NYC and government along with media played it up to the hilt for their own nefarious purposes

2)  All lives do not matter in the end..  Not equally.   A rotten man who makes his living in the pit of the NYSE trading floor is worth more than a genuinely good man who perhaps cleans the toilet seats

And if the stock exchange was blown up due to Terror, the trader's spouse would get millions; the janitor's spouse would get thousands..
I just choose not to think upon 9-11 in any way...

Well, other than the fact Duran Duran's new CD comes out (their 14th album) and so that is worth celebrating..

A&G will be back on Monday September14th
