For a Passionless Non-thinking Society.. the Movie Sequel

We wrote earlier in the week about Passion or rather the absolute lack of it in most people's lives for anything that is not a 'on the doorstep' problem, meaning something specifically affecting one individual but perhaps not another..

There are many reasons for this of course.. Far too many to go into here..

But one concept kept popping into our collective heads..

Maybe people generally speaking are passionless because they are so mind-numbing boring and possess no inner-creative spark.
Pretty harsh we know..

But how else do you explain the following:

Q: According to, how many movie sequels are currently in the works among the greedy Hollywood movie studios?  This means pre-production, filming, post-production or about to be released..

A -- 40
B -- 56
C -- 71
D -- 156
Answer:   D --  Yes, 156 movie sequels are in some stage of production as of this posting

Now yes one can argue that soulless Hollywood is completely devoid of creativity and originality and so its far easier to make Cars 3 or Toy Story 4, then take the time to create something inventive that could be hit or miss..

Films like 23 Jump Street (this would follow already released 21 and 22 Jump..) and Fast & Furious 7 (yes, 6 stupid movies preceded it) have built in audiences, usually stupid teenage boys so the studios figure they can be assured of a certain opening figure and budget the film accordingly..

So many people rush to see this garbage.. So how can one expect a society to produce original thought when they can't even consciously gravitate to original content in their entertainment?
Here's a mere sampling of sequels coming to a theater near you..

Alien 5 - expected in 2017 starring a geriatric Sigourney Weaver

Alvin & Chipmunks 4 - It is called Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip.  (laughter goes here)

American Pie 5 - Guess all the young actors have grown up and need another paycheck

Bad Boys 3 and 4 - Yes, the world needs two more movies about fast-talking uppity black cops keeping the streets safe

Beverly Hills Cop 4 -  David Spade was right.. Eddie Murphy is a fallen star
Blade Runner 2 - Might be decent; might not

Bridget Jones Baby -  Ugh!

Clerks 3 -  The sequel Clerks 2 only made about $15mil.. So why make a 3rd?

Expendables 4 -  I wonder, if Stallone was confined for rest of his life to a wheelchair, would he still make Expendables 5?

Fifty Shades 2 & 3 - Guess America is not yet tired of seeing milquetoast pseudo S&M scenes between two boring actors

Fast & Furious 8 - If the entire original cast died like Paul Walker did, the producers would still make F&F indefinitely and shit-stupid kids would still pay to see it..
Frozen 2 - Of course,, its Di$$$ney

Goonies 2 - Original came out in 1983

Gremlins 3 -  No one bothered to see Gremlins 2 in 1987

Indiana Jones 5, Madagascar 4, Max Max 5, Mission Impossible 6....!!

A passion-less, easily controlled public who doesn't want to be bothered with anything of importance or consequence outside of themselves eagerly seeking out prequels, sequels, remakes and re-dos

Yep, that sums up the Western World

Wonder what our enemies over there with ISIS are doing while we dull our senses with non-stop mind-numbing, non-thinking entertainment?

We can't see them distracted by Pirates of Caribbean 5 or Pitch Perfect 3

Can you?
