Opinions of An Honest Academy Award Voter

Its been a long Wednesday night into early Thursday morning..

After watching the news, all I could think again and again was how I wished the Presidential Election was held today because whether the Dem or the Rep won, at least it would mean we'd be in the final countdown of this piece of shit President who can't even admit publicly that radical Islam and its teaching directly lead to Terrorism..

Sorry if it offends some to be so bluntly honest..

OK, you got me.. Not least bit sorry.
Speaking of bluntly honest, I read a really terrific article in the Hollywood Reporter earlier Wednesday where an Academy Awards voter reveals her ballot and does so with brutal candor.

Of course its done anonymously but especially in this putrid politically-correct climate, its perfectly understandable

Here's what the female voter said regarding the topic of Best Picture:

"First, let me say that I'm tired of all of this talk about "snubs" — I thought for every one of [the snubs] there was a justifiable reason.
What no one wants to say out loud is that 'Selma' is a well-crafted movie, but there's no art to it.  If the movie had been directed by a 60-year-old white male, I don't think that people would have been carrying on about it to the level that they were.
And as far as the accusations about the Academy being racist?  Yes, most members are white males, but they are not the cast of Deliverance — they had to get into the Academy to begin with, so they're not cretinous, snaggle-toothed hillbillies.

When a movie about black people is good, members vote for it. But if the movie isn't that good, am I supposed to vote for it just because it has black people in it?

I've got to tell you, having the cast show up in T-shirts saying "I can't breathe" [at their New York premiere] — I thought that stuff was offensive. Did they want to be known for making the best movie of the year or for stirring up shit?"

Speaking of 'I Can't Breathe', just take in those Fresh Breaths of Pure Honesty for a few moments..
~ "Name this woman who won an Oscar last year without looking and you get the Pride and Satisfaction of being the Only person on Earth to know..

Everything expressed I 100% agree with.

The Oscars have always been a "You scratch my back and I will scratch yours" game of Hollywood inner-politics among studios where blocks of voters follow the leader.  This was especially so in its infancy, back when winners were told ahead of time so the losers didn't have to bother to attend.

And yes the Oscars are Highly political

A good example of this is actually talked about in the Ben Stiller comedy 'Tropic Thunder' where Stiller's character at one time played a retarded imbecile named "Happy Jack" and he couldn't understand why he never won an Oscar..
Robert Downey Jr's character in full black-makeup explains he went "full retard" and Hollywood only rewards Oscars for those who play 'half-retards' like Dustin Hoffman in 'Rain Man' and Tom Hanks in 'Forrest Gump'..  And when Sean Penn went "full" in 'I am Sam', he didn't win either..

But ultimately its something fun to watch and shouldn't be taken all too seriously by anyone unless you've got a social agenda.

Because those cry-baby tactics work both ways..

For instance, why is there not a single Asian nominated for any acting category or in the category of Best Director??
And why after 40 years of Saturday Night Live being on the air, has there Never Ever been an Asian cast member?    In fact in the history of the show, there's only been two hosts of Asian heredity-  Lucy Liu and Jackie Chan

Yet SNL continues to hire token black actors and writers...

And why in the entire history of soap operas on daytime TV has there never been an Asian cast-member?    Besides the fact that Asian people are too busy spending their days working productively instead of sitting at home watching soaps..

On and On..
And as truthful as those examples are involving Asian discrimination in entertainment, you see how absolutely annoying it is to keep harping on it?

Other 'beans' in the bag don't seem to mind..

Don't care what anyone else says or how they try to twist it:

You can NOT have a color blind society where people look at and treat each other with total respect and dignity as equals based on our content of character when at the same time, blacks want Exceptional Status and to be as distinct as possible, celebrating their cultural differences and be referred to with a hyphenated name..

Sorry, it just does not work that way..
OK, once again you got me..  I'm not.

The Oscars will be on TV this Sunday and I'm sure its going to be a most entertaining show..

That is in spite of the numerous references to lack of black nominees and some vicious jokes about Bill Cosby perpetrating the 'black male as rapist of white women' stereotype

And whoever wins, at least one can be assured it will be deserved..

Unless 'Selma' wins anything..
