Some Trivia on All Things August 6th...

We thought for today's post we'd try something a little different to spice things up and if others enjoy, we will do this more often..

Because the past is as important as the present (in some cases more so) we're going to ask you our loyal readers some trivia questions about different events which happened on this day in history - August 6th.

Overall we hope this is a challenge because when one is stumped, then you get the 'Ahh' reaction which is the beautiful sound of learning

Teddy Roosevelt had served as President until 1908 when he decided not to run for re-election and William Howard Taft won with his support.    After 4 years in office, Teddy was so frustrated by Taft in office he ran against him and Democrat nominee Woodrow Wilson..  The GOP vote was split and Wilson won in 1912

Answer:   C

"Little Boy" was dropped by the Enola Gay..  Many liberals to this day say it was not necessary to drop the bomb on wartime Japan...  No it was.

C -  Lucille Ball
D -  M. Night Shyamalan

Answer:   B

Connery was born August 25, 1930

Mitchum was born on August 6th, 1917, Ball in 1911 and Shyamalan in 1970

6)  On this date in 1809, one of Britain and perhaps the world's greatest poets was born, responsible for such works as 'The Charge of the Light Brigade" and "Idylls of the King"..  He is ranked as the ninth most frequently quoted writer in The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations - Who is he?

Answer:   D

Tennyson was Poet Laureate of Great Britain and Ireland during much of Queen Victoria's reign and remains one of the most popular British poets.

Answer:  B

The highest price ever paid for a Warhol painting is $105 million for a 1963 canvas titled Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster) in November, 2013
